As it was the year of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally 50th Anniversary, motorcycle enthusiast and HitchDoc owner, Brad Mohns was waiting on the backordered motorcycle hitch he ordered for the trip. Tired of waiting, he went out to his farm shop and started working his own hitch. That year, Brad took a custom-built trike and chopper to Sturgis, South Dakota with hitches he had designed for common models of Harley Davidsons. The effort, design and quality was apparent to the motorcycling community so the orders rolled in from that day forward.

As a full-time farmer, Brad had all the tools he needed to make hitches for his bikes and friend’s but when orders kept coming in, it was time to upgrade and grow. Brad built his first CNC plasma table in 1994 because the quality of machines on the market weren’t up to his standards. Local OEM’s learned of the cutting capability and HitchDoc’s Contract Manufacturing division began. That drive for high quality and machines is still felt on the production floor today.

Brad knew he needed to upgrade his space during the early 2000’s. In 2005, he built a new 50,000 sq.ft. facility and moved his 18 employees from the farm shop in Round Lake, MN to Jackson, MN. Growth exploded and an expansion of another 50,000sq. ft. was already needed in 2007.

When the Great Recession hit in 2008, the minds at HitchDoc did not slow down. In effort to keep all of the employees working, HitchDoc Management began adding product lines through acquisition and development. It evens out the work flow and has kept the company stable during the ups and downs of contract manufacturing.

Today, HitchDoc is still family owned and Brad and his wife, Linda, have welcomed their children, Chad, Stacy, Tasha and their families, into the ISO certified operation. Constantly innovating and improving HitchDoc’s already high quality product lines, the Mohns family will continue to discover great OEM partners, diversify product offerings, improve capabilities and strive for success.

Serving over 10 industries with over 150 employees, 25 years’ experience and a 190,000sq. ft. facility, the values and quality policy have not changed. Having a facility and machines that are second to none, the employee team is extremely proud of the work they do with 100% American made materials. HitchDoc will always be dedicated to their employees and staying ahead of constantly advancing technologies.

We look forward to seeing you!

While HitchDoc is a leader in a variety of industries ranging from agriculture to motorcycle hitches, construction to snow management and contract manufacturing to ATV/UTV accessories, we strive to have the most up-to-date product information and industry practices. Our team at HitchDoc has embraced tube laser technology for over 15 years. A fairly rare process for a contract fabrication shop to utilize across North America, we saw a need that eliminated secondary processes and allowed engineers to take their creativity to another unique level.

We have multiple machines each specifically designed to run at optimum efficiency in a window of materials, saving our customers lead time and money. All machines will cut a variety of tube and structural shapes, with sizes varying from .50” to 8” in diameter and up to .50” in wall thickness. Our machines run high or low quantities effectively, as well as simple angle cuts to very complex profiles with the push of a button.

Between our material buying leverage and innovative machine technology, we are confident that our team can process tubes for less than you can. Challenge us!

Our Flat Laser Cutting is among the fastest in the industry, with positioning speeds reaching 12,000 IPM. All machines are automated for self-loading and unloading material, reducing the needs for forklifts and labor. With continual investment in our machines, we've added a storage retrieval system capable of storing 600,000 LBS and able to feed multiple lasers. Investments like this enable us to drive down labor and handling costs while increasing efficiencies—savings we pass on to our customers!

Whether it is mild steel, stainless steel, or aluminum we’re able to cut 24 ga to 1”, and capable of sheet sizes of 84” x 160”.

At HitchDoc, we guarantee our unrivaled cut quality; smooth edges, no gouges, and absolutely no dross.

If your business requires cut plate parts from 1” to 8” thick, give us a chance to review your requirements. We stock many material thicknesses (including metric), various material grades and can process plates up to 10'x45'!

Flame cutting was the beginning of our fabrication technology in the early 1990’s. Owner, Brad Mohns, built his first CNC flame table at his shop and began cutting parts for local OEM’s. Today, we’ve built on his foundation with multiple head processing for the best efficiencies and lower cost parts.

Our root for extreme cut quality remains. All parts are cleaned and inspected before leaving the department. We guarantee satisfaction to our customers with every part we ship.

We are proud of the quality work that our Forming Department turns out. With the ability to create our own tooling or use European Tooling, we’re confident we’ll be able to form any part you throw at us.

Our CNC press brakes are capable of bending parts up to 14 feet long and up to 1.5” thick to any degree. With a 6-axis back gauge auto crowning and accuracy down to .1 of a degree, we have the ultimate flexibility when it comes to your forming needs.

Now included in our Forming department is sheet rolling and tube bending capabilities!

Robotic Welding

Lower Your Production Costs

At HitchDoc, we embrace cutting-edge technology and it’s no different with our robotic welding capabilities. Our team designs and builds all of our own robotic weld fixtures using the latest technology, saving both valuable time and money—a savings we are able to pass on to our customers. Robots provide very consistent welds and help gain efficiencies on medium to high volume projects.

Jobs always have tight timelines and we’re able to reduce time by handling the weld project from start to finish. With multiple machines and extremely accurate programmable features, HitchDoc Robotic Welding accommodates to your schedule and budget!

Manual Welding

Taking Pride in Every Bead

Here at HitchDoc, our welding department is able to MIG or TIG weld mild steel, stainless or aluminum in a wide range of thicknesses. With 20+ welding stations that can be positioned for the most efficient process, jib cranes and overhead cranes for easy transport to cleaning and shipping, HitchDoc is equipped to take on the big jobs.

We continually reinvest in our employees by certifying welders to the AWS standards so they can do the job best. Just another step in the process that isn’t required by most companies, but we take pride in our employees’ work and what we sell to our customers.

Whether a part is created in the HitchDoc Flame/Plasma or Welding departments, it gets hand inspected by the Finishing department. This detail-orientated process ensures customer satisfaction by completing a product-specific inspection covering cosmetic features such as lines, cuts, bevel and weld for dross and spatter.

The HitchDoc Finishing Department also offers sandblasting for any size part for paint or weld preparation and Line Grain Finishing for general parts clean up or product aesthetics.

We aim for the highest quality finishes on all of our manufactured parts!

Whether a project is starting from scratch with new drawings or just refining existing ones, HitchDoc Engineering and Prototyping Department will exceed expectations. HitchDoc’s engineering team is made up by a variety of multi-disciplined engineers and drafters that will develop a long-term relationship with you on any future projects. With an in-house team, engineers are able to work with all steps of production to keep projects on required specifications making HitchDoc one-stop-shop for Contract Manufacturing!

By using advanced computer programs and progressive production processes, HitchDoc can add modern specs to older drawings in order to save time and money on simple or complex parts. Having the ability to simulate stress, test material strength and analyze overall project performance through HitchDoc’s computer programs allows for more potential cost and time savings in the long run. After the project is completed, real-time product testing can take place as well for any potential improvements or failure prevention.

Prototyping is a large part of the production process. Physical fit-ups, testing, and re-evaluations are something HitchDoc engineers are familiar with on design projects. We want to be sure products with our name on them are amongst the best in the industry. Once a prototype is complete, a further cost analysis is completed to ensure the maximum potential savings in the production process.

HitchDoc offers a full range of engineering services and is not limited to a product type, style or industry. Each client and project is unique but receives the same high attention to detail throughout the entire engineering and production process.

Assembly is a value-added addition to the HitchDoc Contract Manufacturing process. No matter the size, weight or specialization of your project, our assembly line can finish it. With our overhead cranes, continuous lines and ample floor space, the sky is the limit!

We are able to package for direct shipments or custom kits that match your needs and then inspect them to our quality standards. Our assembly team offers product testing and verification for the highest levels of end-user satisfaction. The line is designed to be flexible to a specific project or customer's requirements. Serial control, we can handle that too!

Consider us to handle your next assembly project and ship it directly to you or your end user. Whether electrical, hydraulic, or pneumatic, no custom request it too challenging for HitchDoc.

Clean, Powder and Cure is the widely accepted process for the powder-coat industry but at HitchDoc, we can go many steps further than the standard. The free-hanging, power conveyor line allows for flexible automation to handle any size job. With in-line blasting and priming capability options, we're confident we’ll exceed your salt spray and paint quality standards.

We offer a vast color palette and a Multi-Color Quick Change feature, custom colors don’t slow us down. Worried about what powder-coating will do the threading on your part? Don’t! We have adequate tools and materials to protect throughout the process. Customers can request a specific color, texture and thickness of the coating which we confirm in our quality tests.

Our line is capable of handling a project with dimensions up to 10' wide, 26' long and 12' tall and up to 5,000 pounds. HitchDoc is your first choice for the best powder-coat paint finishing.

Owner and President, Brad Mohns, started fabricating motorcycle hitches as a hobby for friends and family in his farm shop in Round Lake, MN. Warning!!!

Do not exceed the motorcycle manufacturer’s Gross Vehicle weight limit when loading and pulling ANY trailer with ANY motorcycle.  ALL HitchDoc motorcycle trailer hitches have a MAXIMUM tongue weight load of 40 pounds.  Tongue weight must NEVER EXCEED 10% of the GROSS TRAILER weight including ALL CONTENTS AND CARGO.

Motorcycle performance is always effected by adding a trailer to a motorcycle.  Always ride in a conservative and safety conscience manner when towing a trailer with a motorcycle.

  1. Allow extra distance for acceleration and braking when pulling a trailer.
  2. Always decrease from normal cornering speeds when pulling a trailer with a motorcycle.
  3. When riding in groups with a motorcycle trailer, always ride at the rear of the group to minimize group accident exposure.
  4. Never exceed motorcycle manufacture, trailer manufacturer, or hitch manufacturer’s limits for gross weight or tongue weight.
  5. Never exceed posted speed limits for vehicles when pulling trailers which can be different than non-towing vehicles.
  6. Many states exclude, by law, vehicles towing trailers from the left hand, or so called fast lanes.
  7. Always use approved safety chains, and have them securely attached.  Cross the safety chains under the tongue of the trailer so that the tongue will not drop to the road if it becomes separated from the hitch.  Always leave just enough slack so that you can turn with your rig.  And, never allow safety chains to drag on the ground.
  8. Trailer tire pressure should be inflated to maximum allowable pressure, unless otherwise recommended by the trailer manufacturer.  Rear motorcycle tire pressure should be inflated to maximum allowable pressure (refer to tire side wall marking) and checked periodically.
  9. Towing a trailer required a certain amount of experience.  After loading the trailer, weigh the trailer and then the tongue separately, to see if the weights are proper.
  10. If trailer sways or bounces while towing, SLOW DOWN BY REDUCING SPEED GRADUALLY and STOP TOWING immediately.  Unless cause can be determined, i.e. shifted load, low tire pressure, etc., which can be corrected, do not resume towing.

*Our hitches are designed to fit on stock bikes.
*Our hitches are not recommended with a one wheeled trailer.

“We have to dedicate much of our success to the quality of products our team puts out the door,” says President Brad Mohns.

Our vendors must meet certain requirements and are held accountable for flaws in the raw materials. Some of our CNC machines are even capable to 'self-check' the specified dimensions on the part they are producing, while other parts are brought into the quality lab for more detailed inspection.

Quality is everyone’s responsibility at HitchDoc.  Our ISO 9001 certified processes require parts to be inspected after every operation to ensure we meet customer requirements.  We agree with International Organization for Standards (ISO) in creating safe, reliable and good quality products so we’ve certified our processes to ensure you get the best.  In addition to completed part inspections, the HitchDoc Quality team randomly audits parts and processes throughout the day to ensure we maintain an exceptional quality level.

ISO 9001:2015 Quality Policy

To achieve the above, HitchDoc will:

Travis Seed Cart

HitchDoc began fabricating the first seed carts for Travis Manufacturing 2000; when the opportunity arose in 2009 to purchase the brand, it was an easy decision to take it over. HitchDoc added Travis Seed Cart to its portfolio and perfected the fabrication process using dedicated people, advanced manufacturing processes, choice American Steel, and then inspected it all against the highest quality standards in the industry. To this day, Travis Seed Carts by HitchDoc continues to innovate with new models and improve the classics!

Travis Seed Carts are available in both seed box (center flow) and bulk style seed tenders. Choose from bumper pull, gooseneck and skid models. Color choices of black, green or red powder-coat finish are available to match your fleet. All models come with a wireless remote that controls the hydraulic functions of the cart giving farmers the ability to control it from the planter, tractor or wherever they need to be. Also, producers have the options to order specific scales that best fit their needs; auto shutoff scale, standard scale, scale ready, or no scale models.

Seed tenders are complete with self-contained hydraulic systems, DOT compliant trailers, rubber dual torsion axles, electric brakes and easy cranking jacks, making the Travis Seed Cart an efficient tool to add to your farming operation.

Mike B., Dealer, Worthington, MN

We like the Travis Seed Carts because they're built with quality and have a low-profile design. They're easy to use and easy to load.

Precisely What I Was Looking For

Kenton H., Producer, Bridgewater, SD

I bought my Travis Seed Cart in 2020 and it’s precisely what I was looking for. It’s easy to load and use. It pulls really nice behind the pickup, is easy to maneuver, and the design is well-thought out.

Farmer Built

Ryan W., Dealer/Producer, Lamberton, MN

I like the Travis Seed Carts. I use them myself and have sold them for years. They’re reliable, built heavy, and simple to use but still have the features everyone wants. They last a long time because they’re farmer built. I like the product and like selling it.

About 7 pounds

Pair Your Remote

Pair Your Remote

Re-train Your Travis Seed Cart Remote

If your remote does not seem to be functioning properly, or if you have replaced the battery and the remote no longer controls the functions on your seed tender, you can easily pair, or re-train the remote to restore proper operation.

  • Power on the unit.
    • The LED on the receiver will flash red four times.
    • Place a fairly powerful magnet over the, "L" on the receiver for approximately 3 seconds and then remove the magnet.
      • The LED will change from flashing red to constant red.
      • Press any of the buttons on the remote FOB.
        • The LED will change from red to green/yellow.
Once the LED changes to green/yellow, the remote will be paired to the receiver and should operate normally.

Travis Seed Cart Pre-Season Maintenance

Travis Seed Cart Pre-Season Maintenance

Get Ready to Plant

Your Travis Seed Cart will last a long time with proper maintenance. As you get ready to plant, take some time to check over your equipment. Doing so before you start can save you valuable time. Here are a few things to check before the busy planting season gets underway.

Visual Inspection

Walk around the seed cart and visually inspect it. Make note of any fluid leaks, excessive wear, or corrosion and address these items first. Check the hydraulic oil level. Look at the condition of the auger, downspout, flex tube, and tube. Any sections that are worn or damaged should be replaced. Verify all guards and shields are in place. Check the battery and cables for corrosion.

Dry Run

After visually inspecting the seed cart, try starting the engine. If the engine doesn't start, disconnect the battery and check that it is fully charged. If not, keep the battery disconnected from the machine and charge it. Apply a thin layer of petroleum jelly or grease to the terminals before reconnecting.

Start the engine and test the remote. If the remote does not work, you may need to replace the CR2032 battery and then pair the remote to your Travis Seed Cart. Read this article for details on pairing your remote.

With the machine running, turn the auger and lift switches on to verify that they are working. If your unit is equipped with a talc applicator, turn the applicator on while the seed cart is running. Turn the machine off.
